They say that if a tech-hero stands within five feet of a computer your issue will suddenly be resolved.
(This may also occur if you’re standing within 5 feet of the device, with a tech-hero on the phone.)
Some call it “magic.” We like to refer to it as the “Five Foot Rule”.
The rule states this:
If a malfunctioning computer/printer/device is within 5 feet of a tech-hero or his/her voice, it will surrender to the tech-user and suddenly start working as it should.

Unfortunately, devices can be as unpredictable as people. Sometimes an issue is so stubborn that the tech-hero must come out and troubleshoot it. Other times, the tech-hero must empower the tech-user to troubleshoot it over the phone. But when the 5 Foot rule works – and the issue resolves itself – all parties can go on with their day in peace.
