Episode 40: It’s Effective Communication Month!

Some holidays arrive with fireworks, parades, or cupcakes. But once a year, we celebrate something quieter — something powerful enough to make or break every mission a tech‑hero undertakes.

Welcome to Effective Communications Month.

Who would have thought communication was important enough to earn a month of its own? And not just any communication — the effective kind. The kind that keeps projects moving, prevents misunderstandings, and saves tech‑heroes from deciphering vague requests written in hieroglyphics.

For those who work with others, for others, or on behalf of others, communication is the difference between clarity and chaos. When details are wrong or requests are fuzzy, frustration spreads faster than a corrupted file. When communication goes well, though? That’s worth celebrating.

Preferably with cake.

Except… the cake isn’t here. (I may have forgotten to order it.)

I could bake one, but without a recipe, a plan, or instructions, we’d end up with a bowl of sugary scrambled eggs. This is why my friends keep me out of the kitchen.

And that’s the point, isn’t it?

Without clear communication — no recipe, no plan, no guidance — even the simplest tasks fall apart.

So this month, we’re focusing on the unique challenges of communicating through technology. These challenges can be interpersonal, intergenerational, or even internal. Sometimes the hardest part of tech communication is translating what you think you said into what someone else actually heard.

May we all grow a little more “effective” in the end.

Cake or no cake, the celebration begins now.
