Today – the third Tuesday of the month of September – is a day that shall go down in history.
Today is the day that my tech-users said: “Thank you.”
Life as a tech-hero can be a thankless job at times. We work hard to protect our users and our organizations. We spend our days balancing our normal responsibilities with other people’s catastrophes. Our goal isn’t the accolades, but sometimes it would be nice to experience more appreciation for our efforts. We’re human too, you know?
A year ago, I wrote about IT Professionals Day – a day I would celebrate by my lonesome on April Fools day. (Because I didn’t know the actual holiday existed.)
Today, a different celebration took place.
I arrived at my office to find a bag of bags of sweet treats and a note. A bonified “thank you” note. It was not a “Thank you for saving me from a tech-tastrophe” note. It was a “Thank you for everything you do” note. Just the sight of it brought a tear to my eye.
Today is the day that my tech-users said: “Thank you.” That single statement makes the long hours, the stressful phone calls, and the difficult quandaries worth it – it was a day where my heart felt full.
Thank your tech-heroes and bring them candy. It may make their day a little sweeter.
